The Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the Land North Rhine-Westfalia supports the LIFE project through:

  For several years already, the Forestry Administration of the Land supports the transformation of spruce plantations into riverine forests, meadows and swamps, most of all in the Perlenbach-/Fuhrtsbach-valley as well as in the Upper Rur valley. Employees of the Forestry Administration of the Land have helped to initiate the transfrontalier nature conservation project in the Perlenbach-/Fuhrtsbach valley As the owner of several plots in the project area, the forestry administration of the Land supports the LIFE-project through:
  • financing restauration measures on land-owned plots
  • the evaluation of private forest plots
  • professional advice concerning the spruce cutting measures on private forest plots
  • permissions


  The Forestry Administration of Elsenborn supports the LIFE project through:
  • the cartography of sediment emissions on the military training area of Elsenborn
  • the construction sedimentation basins
  • nature conservation measures on the Belgian side


  The Districts of Aachen and Euskirchen support the LIFE project through:
  • professional advice
  • the realisation the measures
  • permissions


    The Office of Agrarian Policy (AfAO) Euskirchen leads the purchase negotiations for the LIFE project, takes over the purchase as well as the transmission of the property (including the entry into the land register) by means of a consolidation procedure.



  The Town of Monschau supports the LIFE project through:
  • the restauration of plots by means of the "Eco account"
  • the provision of plots for the plot exchange
  • permissions


  The Municipality of Hellenthal supports the LIFE project through:
  • restauration of plots by means of the "Eco account"
  • permissions

Donations and public carriers:


  On the initiative of the Foundation of North Rhine-Westfalia (Foundation NRW), the Nature Parc North Eifel and the Forestry Administration of the Land, the restauration of the Perlenbach-/Fuhrtsbach valley (transformation of spruce plantations into species-rich meadows, swamps, bogs and riverine forests) was started in the 1980s. Up to now, the Foundation NRW has purchased more than 60 ha on the German side and has restaured this surface with own financial means.

The Foundation NRW supports the LIFE project directly or indirectly through
  • the purchase of plots in the project area
  • the financing of measures
  • the efficience control of measures
  • the financing of a protection project for the pearl mussel


  The Union for Water Supply Perlenbach supports the LIFE project through:
  • the free provision of plots for restauration measures
  • the restauration of plots by means of the "Eco account"
  • the promotion of watering places and fencing of water courses in the frame of "water cooperations"


  The HIT-Foundation supports the LIFE project through:
  • the financing of a protection project for the Noble crayfish
  • the financing of further measures at waters
